Skopje, North Macedonia — Today starts a presentation of sub-granting scheme ongoing under the project EU for Economic Growth where 20 Macedonian companies will present their achievements resulting from a granting scheme amounting to a total of approximately 4 million euros.

The 20 companies come from four economic regions affected by low competitiveness, a lack of innovation and insufficient industry-specific export potential – the Northeast, Southwest, Polog region and Prespa (Municipality of Resen). These regions were specifically targeted by the project and measures were precisely defined to tackle the weakest ecosystem links and strengthen them through building the capacities of local business support organisations to provide advice and services to the businesses in a way that builds a strong economy based on local potential and worldwide trends.

The aim of this event is to bring together the companies from all regions providing them with the opportunity to share their story through three designated pitching sessions clustered based on external company impact achieved through the grants (Waste Management, Increasing Competitiveness and Resources Efficiency).

The grantees will present in front of other donors and development agencies, Business Support Organizations and the regional Accelerators. After the presentation the guests and presenters will have the opportunity to network, exchange ideas, and explore potential for cooperation and synergies.

The event will be opened by Mr. Steffen Hudolin, Head of Cooperation of the EU Delegation in North Macedonia, Mr. David Oberhuber, GIZ Country Director and Mr. Mark Barrett, EU for Economic Growth Project Leader.

EU for Economic Growth project is co-funded by the EU and the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action, implemented by GIZ North Macedonia and AREA Science Park from Trieste, Italy.
