What we do and why
Economy in North Macedonia heavily relies on micro, small and medium enterprises that are the backbone of local livelihoods and contribute to 74% of all employment in the country. Yet, due to the rural vs. urban disparity in population, the regions outside of the capital are affected with brain drain, low incomes and lack of workforce, making the businesses in these areas susceptible to poor production, low competitiveness, a lack of innovation and insufficient industry-specific export potential. And in this disparity, some regions suffer more than others.
EU for Economic Growth taps into the amazing growth potential of four regions by creating growth opportunities for start-ups and SMEs with a focus on circular economy and green growth. It also promotes innovative technologies and methods for adding value to businesses and increasing competitiveness.
